Western Oregon University (WOU) is located in Monmouth, Oregon within the heart of the Willamette Valley. The small town atmosphere adds to the charm of this vibrant university with over 6,600 students.
WOU's College of Education is proud to partner on the Early Childhood Inclusion Summer Institute. WOU has a long history of excellence in teacher preparation as well as research in the area of early childhood.
The College of Education has three options for those looking to get a bachelor's in early childhood. The first, the Early Childhood Studies major, is a non-licensure bachelor's degree that prepares practitioners to work and/or teach in inclusive early childhood settings (birth-8years) where a teaching licensure isn't necessary.
A second option, is our Early Childhood Studies with EI/ECSE licensure program. This program, coming Fall 2022, will prepare practitioners to work with very young (birth-5yrs) children who may be experiencing a disability in a variety of settings.
Finally, our third bachelor's degree option, is for those students coming to us with an AAS in early childhood or a related field. Students complete their first two years at their community college, and then come to WOU to complete their Bachelor's of Applied Science in Early Childhood.
All of our degree can be taken in a hy-flex format (online, hybrid, and/or face-to-face).
We also offer a Master's Degree with a focus in Early Childhood (MSEd-Early Childhood).
See the WOU Early Childhood Program webpage and our Facebook page: WOU Early Childhood Programs for more information.
