Pre-conference on Tuesday, August 6th
$80 fee for the day
Join us for an immersive pre-conference session with the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde on Tuesday, August 6th! The conference team has arranged for a morning visit (leave WOU at 10:00am) to the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde Early Childhood Education classrooms and the Chachalu Museum & Cultural Center to learn more about tribal culture and culturally responsive practices in early learning (10:30-12:30).
We will then return to WOU's campus and enjoy lunch together before diving into a Set 3 ORO training (1:30-4:30pm), Designing Culturally Responsive Hands-on Early Literacy Experiences. This session will use a reflective approach to closely consider the interrelationship between our own culturally identities and others. We will use critical lenses to examine the impact of culture and beliefs on classroom interactions and how to design hands-on experiences that link culturally relevant experiences and child development.
